Zynga can move aside. The days when Farmville ruled has passed; King now owns the top three Facebook games in MAU — or Monthly Active users. This puts King at the #1 spot for Facebook developers, ahead of Zynga as well as other popular developers like Microsoft, Youtube, and Spotify.
King’s fourth-highest ranking game, Papa Pear, holds the 13th spot, putting it above Skype and Texas Holdem Poker. Overall, King owns 7 of the top 100 apps, making it a behemoth that leaves all the other app developers in the dust. Zynga previously held the top spot, their top-performing app, FarmVille 2, is ranked #16. Still, Zynga is able to firmly hold on to the #2 spot with 5 apps in the top 100.
So what does this all mean for King? It seems that nothing can crush their candy phenomenon, but at least Farm Heroes is beginning to catch up. Who knows how long King’s fortune will last — Zynga enjoyed their grow until it consumed itself — but as long as King’s #1 priority remains their fans, we’ll be enjoying their games for years to come.
